This is the final issue of Inside Illinois, but it’s not the end of the campus news function.
It’s been our privilege to produce Inside Illinois since 1990. The newspaper existed in a print format until last September, with bundles landing in campus mailrooms twice monthly. While some readers maintained their loyalty to the printed version until the very end, we received other feedback that the print version was not in sync with the reading preferences in this digital-oriented age.
Inside Illinois transitioned to a digital format last September, with a weekly email informing you of the latest news. A great deal of effort was required for the online migration, but in the final analysis we determined the Office of Public Affairs could better serve the campus by incorporating all our work into the News Bureau website, so we can focus on our core functions of sharing the research excellence of the university with media across the nation and around the world.
The News Bureau site will continue to carry campus news and announcements, research news, faculty interviews, death notices and our “Behind the Scenes” blog. Please visit us there often; we will periodically remind you of the new offerings on the site. And we’ll let you know how to submit your announcements for publication.
Many employees contributed to Inside Illinois over the years, and special recognition goes to the current editor, Doris Dahl, for more than 20 years of bringing campus news to you.
Thank you for reading, and of course we’ve been supported by many loyal advertisers. We’re not going away, we’re just finding a way to more efficiently deliver the news to you.
